All eyes are on Turkey. On February 6, Turkey experienced two strong earthquakes of nearly magnitude 8 and several earthquakes of magnitude 6 or above in one day.

At present, at least 78 aftershocks have occurred in Turkey, and the earthquake has killed about 3,000 people in Turkey and Syria. The earthquake also dealt a big blow to Turkey's shipping industry, and major ports were forced to stop operations. According to Turkey's Anadolu News Agency citing the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency on the 7th, the earthquake has killed 2,921 people in Turkey and injured 15,834.

The General Directorate of the Turkish Ministry of Transport said on Twitter: "We are assessing the damage to the coastal facilities after the earthquake. It is currently determined that the containers stacked at the Iskenderun Port terminal have collapsed and caught fire on a large scale. The fire brigade is actively conducting firefighting work. .”

From the scene, the fire was concentrated in a large number of containers. Billows of smoke rose from the container. At present, due to the serious collapse of the port, it is difficult for the fire brigade to put out the fire in time.

Currently, no official report on casualties and property damage has been released, and the specific cause of the fire is under investigation.

Iskenderun Port is a Mediterranean port in Turkey. It is located in Hatay Province, Turkey. It is the second largest port in southeastern Turkey. The port is currently closed.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey stated that the earthquake has caused serious damage to the country's energy infrastructure.

Turkey is the main transit point for grain exports from a country in Eastern Europe and Ukraine. A country in Eastern Europe and Ukraine signed relevant agreements with Turkey and the United Nations in Istanbul on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports. Istanbul, Turkey has also established a joint coordination center to ensure the safety of food transportation, responsible for the joint management of related ships, and to ensure that three Ukrainian ports including Odessa Port export food and fertilizers.

Some analysts said that this earthquake may also affect the global food supply chain, but specifically, the earthquake zone and the main impact location of the earthquake are in the southeast of Turkey, and the Black Sea grain export location is mainly in the northwest of Turkey. Therefore, the real degree of impact may be limited, and it is necessary to analyze the specific situation of the earthquake.
