Latest Update August 11, 2025: Reciprocal Tariff Pause Extended for Another 90 Days
2025-08-12 14:50:20The landscape of US-China trade is dynamic, and staying ahead of policy changes is crucial for success in the North American wholesale sink market. We want to provide you with a timely update that directly impacts your procurement strategy and pricing.
On August 11, the White House issued an Executive Order announcing that the reciprocal tariff suspension on goods from China has been extended for an additional 90 days. This means the 10% reciprocal tariff rate will remain in effect, successfully postponing a much higher tariff rate that was set to resume. The new order states: "Based on this additional information and recommendations from various senior officials, among other things, I have determined that it is necessary and appropriate to continue the suspension effectuated by Executive Order 14298 until 12:01 a.m. eastern standard time on November 10, 2025."1 This new pause provides a crucial window of stability, which we can all take advantage of.
What's the Current Tariff Rate?
While the recent extension of the reciprocal tariff pause is welcome news, we believe in providing full transparency on the total tariff landscape. For our North American partners, it's important to understand the full stack of duties that apply to porcelain and ceramic sinks imported from China.
This is a combination of several different layers of tariffs:
a) Base MFN Tariff
5.8% (fixed rate)2
b) Fentanyl Tariffs
20%(Since March 4, 2025)3
c) Reciprocal Tariffs
10%1
The 10% rate that has just been extended for another 90 days.
As of today, the total combined tariff rate on a porcelain sink is 35.8%.
