Ceramic Sink Tariffs: China-to-US Latest Update

In the first few months of this year, the US imposed several rounds of tariffs on Chinese imports, with rates even exceeding 100% at one point. This significantly increased the cost of importing ceramic sinks to the US, affecting operations at our factory and impacting our wholesale customers in the US. As a result, our customers faced tough decisions: they had to choose between paying the additional tariffs to maintain normal inventory levels or delaying shipments for confirmed orders and holding off on new orders while monitoring the situation until the tariff situation improves — neither option was easy. However, after a period of negotiations, the U.S.-China Joint Statement on Economic and Trade Talks in Geneva was issued. Our previously reduced order volume soon returned to normal levels, accompanied by a wave of new orders. We are working diligently to complete as many orders as possible within this 90-day window.
Currently, the tariff rate for ceramic sinks exported from China to the US stands at 35.8%. However, the future direction of tariff rates remains uncertain.
To address the current situation, we will take the following measures:
1. We will ensure the timely shipment of existing orders. We will maintain smooth communication with our customers and update them on the latest developments in a timely manner.
2. We plan to initiate production of ceramic sinks in Malaysia. This move aims to mitigate the impact of tariffs on our customers and enhance the robustness of their supply chains, providing them with more options and greater stability.
Looking ahead, we remain optimistic and committed to overcoming challenges. By ensuring timely shipments and expanding our production capabilities in Malaysia, we are well-positioned to navigate the evolving tariff landscape. We are confident in our ability to continue serving our customers effectively and maintaining stable and strong business relationships.
